TISSEUROPE

Advanced Regenerative Therapies and Tissue Engineering Joint European Master Programme

The vision of TISSEUROPE is to provide international students with the education, tools and training for the competent and responsible health professionals. Our programmes are designed to understand and master solid scientific foundations to take part in the growing area of Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Transplantation.

This project is submitted to European commission call:

The TISSEUROPE Consortium

The consortium unites UGA, UB, UniPavia and ULB —all Master-degree-awarding HEIs—covering complementary ecosystems: transplant hospitals and tissue banks, GMP/ATMP platforms, biofabrication labs, and data/AI capacities. Each partner contributes distinctive clinical/industrial networks and relevant local master assets that are rationalised into one joint programme. Associated partners (e.g., Hospital, transplant centres, biotech/medtech) feed placements and co-supervise projects.

ESI: European Scientific Institute (Archamps, France)

ESI-Archamps (https://esi-archamps.eu/), was founded at the initiative of CERN-based physicists in 1994 as a French non-profit organisation to develop high-level training courses in the fields of scientific expertise developed at CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. Located on the French Geneva Campus of the ArchParc business park, ESI-Archamps today organises thematic postgraduate schools in collaboration with a Europe-wide network of higher education and research establishments. ESI-Archamps has developed a series of Intensive schools in partnership with Université Grenoble Alpes in the rapidly changing area of digital health, notably in systems medicine, health data management and precision oncology. ESI’s schools attract an international audience of post-graduate students (MSc, PhD) and early-career professionals. Since its creation, ESI-Archamps has delivered high level teaching and training to more than 3000 young scientists and engineers from over 60 countries.

Associated Partners

The Associated partners cooperate with the TISSEUROPE Consortium. They Provide guest lecturers, they help attracting excellent students for the master programme, through an ad-hoc dissemination of the opportunities, they provide networking support with their affiliated enterprises, as potential future employer of TISSEUROPE graduates, for instance, they participate to surveys or to up-to-date employability statistics, to take part into career development sessions in order to enhance the integration into the labour market of TISSEUROPE graduates.

Project Overview

TISSEUROPE is a project of two-years, 120-ECTS, entirely taught in English, fully integrated Erasmus Mundus Joint Master designed by 4 European Universities to educate a new generation of specialists at the interface of tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and transplantation. The programme addresses the full bench → good manufacturing practice (GMP) / advanced therapeutic medicinal product (ATMP) → clinic continuum: from stem-cell biology, biofabrication and biomaterials to clean-room manufacturing, regulatory/health technology assessment pathways, transplant immunology and clinical translation.

It is jointly designed and implemented by Université Grenoble Alpes, Universitat de Barcelona, Università di Pavia and Université Libre de Bruxelles, with structured mobility across at least two countries and harmonised assessment, in line with EMJM objectives and the Erasmus+ horizontal priorities (inclusion & diversity, digital transition, environment & climate, civic engagement).

Carrer outcomes

The competencies acquired during the two years (four semesters) and the intensive school will equip students to assume leadership roles straightaway in many areas related to tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and transplantation. After completing their studies, graduates will predominantly work as health professionals, engineers in the HealthTech sectors, or they will continue with doctoral studies doing a PhD and working in basic, applied or clinical research .
